Elizabeth joined CASES in 2022, bringing 18 years of legal experience in community organizations focused on health issues. She previously served as Compliance Officer and Counsel at the East Harlem Council for Human Services, she supported all legal needs and was a key member of the senior management team, guiding operational and strategic planning. She has worked previously at the Lawyers Alliance for New York and at Clifford Chance, LLP. Elizabeth received her B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Texas A&M University, later receiving her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and an L.L.M. in Law and Development from University College London, Faculty of Laws. She is a member of the Nonprofit Committee of the New York City Bar Association, the American Health Law Association, and the Policy Committee of the Community Health Care Association of New York. She is also a Board Member of Riders Alliance.

The mission of CASES is to increase the understanding and use of community sanctions that are fair, affordable, and consistent with public safety. CASES serves nearly 4,000 individuals annually in programs lasting anywhere from one day to more than two years. Their programs are aimed at high-need populations, including young people, adults with mental illness, and chronic misdemeanants who are homeless, drug-addicted, or underemployed.
