Derk Arts

Derk Arts, MD PhD is the Founder & CEO of Castor, a company that aims to accelerate medical research by improving the accessibility and quality of research data. Prior to starting Castor in 2012, they worked as a PhD & Postdoc at Academic Medical Center from 2011 to 2023. Derk also worked as a Researcher at GGZ inGeest from 2008 to 2009.

Derk Arts, MD PhD, obtained their VWO degree from Stedelijk Gymnasium Nijmegen in 2004, majoring in N+G + Wiskunde B2, Informatica, and Economie. Derk then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 2004 to 2011. Later, they attended the University of Amsterdam from 2012 to 2016, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Decision support.
