John Farley

John Farley has a diverse work experience in animal care and veterinary services. John started their career as a Veterinary Assistant at McCormick Animal Clinic in 1994, where they performed various animal health care duties and managed inventory control. From 1999 to 2000, they worked as a Carnivore/Primate Keeper at Zoo Knoxville, providing overall care for animals, conducting daily operations, and participating in keeper chats. John then returned to McCormick Animal Clinic as an Assistant Office Manager from 2000 to 2003 and played a key role in developing a drug and food inventory control system. In 2003, they joined Nashville Zoo as a Zoo Keeper, responsible for the care of animals in the primate unit. John created standard operating procedures and ensured the well-being of the animals. From 2004 to 2019, they worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, initially as an Animal Care Technician II and eventually becoming a Facility Manager. In this role, they oversaw operations of the Division of Animal Care Facility, supporting over 250 principal investigators in their research on diseases, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and potential cures. Currently, John is a Professional Services Consultant at Cayuse LLC, a position they started in 2019.

John Farley obtained a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. In addition to their degree, they have earned several certifications in the field of animal resources. In December 2011, they obtained a Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) certification from AALAS/ICPM. In June 2011, they also obtained a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification from AALAS.
