David Kersey's work experience begins with their current role as a Machine Learning Engineer at cBEYONData, where they are responsible for developing and productionalizing ML and RPA solutions using various tools and technologies such as Databricks, MLFlow, TensorFlow, and UiPath. David is also exploring and developing production LLM apps using Haystack, Langchain, HuggingFace, Docker, and Streamlit.
Prior to their current role, David worked at Deloitte as an Advisory Consultant from May 2022 to April 2023 and as an Advisory Analyst from July 2020 to May 2022.
Before joining Deloitte, they served as a Transparent Development Footprint Research Assistant at AidData from September 2019 to May 2020.
During their time at COMACO - Community Markets for Conservation as a Resource Management Analyst from December 2018 to May 2019, David played a key role in adding over $1M in annual revenue by launching the organic certification of honey and groundnuts. David also developed an internal auditing system and database and collaborated with international partners to export the first-ever Wildlife Friendly and organic certified peanut butter to the U.S.
From April 2018 to September 2018, David worked as a Researcher at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
Prior to that, they served as a Linking Income, Food and the Environment (L.I.F.E.) - Forestry and Food Security Specialist in the Peace Corps from February 2016 to February 2018. In this role, they managed a U.S. Forest Service pilot project, initiated the adoption of agroforestry, and acted as a representative on a board of Zambian and Washington entities.
David's earlier work experience includes a senior thesis research project in Agroecology at St. Mary's College of Maryland and roles as a Plant Science and Weed Ecology Lab Technician at Penn State University and as a Wildlife Technician at the University of Montana and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). In these roles, they conducted various research activities and fieldwork related to wildlife, bird surveys, vegetation surveys, and environmental conservation.
David Kersey earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology, General from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2015. In 2014, they also briefly studied Tropical Biology & Agriculture at the University of Kerala. In 2019, David pursued further education and completed a Master's degree in Business Analytics as a Merit Scholar at William & Mary. During the same year, they also obtained a Business Foundations Specialization from Wharton Online. In terms of certifications, David achieved the following: Academy Accreditation - Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals from Databricks in March 2023, Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in June 2022, Bloomberg Market Concepts from Bloomberg LP in May 2020, Spatial Data Science from Esri in April 2020, Financial Markets from Yale School of Management Online in January 2020, Midwest Big Data Summer School from Iowa State University in May 2019, and Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp from Pierian Data in March 2019.
