Channing Chen

Channing Chen currently serves as the Head of Tax Equity Advisory at CBRE, following the acquisition of the Renewable Advisory team from NRG Energy in October 2024. Prior to this role, Channing led NRG Energy's tax equity advisory business, focusing on enabling Fortune 500 companies to access tax credits from large-scale clean energy projects. Channing's extensive experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer at Correlate Energy, where responsibilities encompassed SEC reporting and corporate finance, and founding Breakaway Energy Partners, a project finance and capital markets firm for solar energy companies. Earlier roles include Vice President of Structured Finance at NRG Energy and various leadership positions at SunEdison, where Channing played a key role in structuring finance for residential solar projects. Channing holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Chemistry from UC San Diego and an MBA in Finance from USC Marshall School of Business.
