Brook Sutherland

Director - Industrial Project Management at CBRE Investment Management

Brook Sutherland has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 1979, they served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant, specializing in combat engineering, metalwork, and armory. From 1986 to 1990, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Combustion Engineering Power Systems. Brook then joined SAI Nuclear, Inc. in 1990 and served as a Technical Principal, responsible for the startup and systems engineering of the Safety Injection System. From 1996 to 2017, Sutherland worked at Lucent Technologies Bell Labs Innovations, where they held various roles including Senior Project Manager, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Technical Manager for plant engineering, facilities, and construction. Currently, Sutherland is the Director of Project Management for the Americas at CBRE Global Investors, where they provide leadership and direction for design and construction projects in various sectors.

Brook Sutherland has an education history that includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. In 1999, they attended North Carolina State University for mechanical engineering but did not complete a degree. They also obtained a Bell Leadership Institute certification in Organizational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015. Additionally, they attended TL Hanna High School and obtained a certification in Sailing and Oyster Shucking. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree in Economics from the Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship from 2002 to 2008. Furthermore, Brook Sutherland has obtained several certifications, including the PJM-2 Advanced Program Management from The University of Texas at Dallas in April 2020, the Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 1999, and a Mechanical Engineer certification from the State of South Carolina in 1987.
