Nickolas Abbas

Team Lead - Network Engineering - Sdwan/naas/clec/automation at CBTS

Nickolas Abbas has a substantial work experience in the field of network engineering. Nickolas is currently working at CBTS as a Team Lead - Network Engineering and as a Network Engineer III. Prior to that, they worked at Procter & Gamble as a Network Engineer.

Before joining Procter & Gamble, Nickolas had a long tenure at CBTS, starting as a Core Network Engineer II and later moving up to their current roles. During their time at CBTS, they were responsible for researching, designing, implementing, and managing various network solutions such as Data Center, ITSP, CLEC, SD-WAN, and VOIP. Nickolas worked with multiple vendors and systems including F5, Juniper, Nokia, Cisco, and Meraki.

One of Nickolas's notable achievements was leading the design and implementation of a new Out of Band Management solution utilizing Meraki SD-WAN for CLEC and Data Center across multiple cities in multiple states and Canada.

Before CBTS, Nickolas worked at Cincinnati Bell where they held multiple roles including Network Engineer, Network Engineer I, and Network Surveillance Data Technician - Tier 2. In these roles, they provided top layer support for LAN and Wi-Fi products, handled design and administration of Metro Ethernet Layer 2 and Layer 3 services, and performed surveillance and monitoring over various networks.

Overall, Nickolas Abbas has a strong background in network engineering, with experience in diverse roles and projects.

Nickolas Abbas attended Cincinnati State Technical and Community College from 2011 to 2013, where they earned an Associate of Science degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications.

In terms of additional certifications, Nickolas obtained several certifications from various institutions. In August 2011, they obtained the Nokia Network Routing Specialist I (NRS) certification from Nokia. In September 2013, they earned the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) certification from Cisco.

Moving forward, Nickolas obtained the Understanding of Cisco Network Devices certification from Cisco in February 2020 and the Discovering Your Strengths certification from LinkedIn in April 2020. Nickolas also achieved the Cisco Certified Networking Professional-Enterprise, Cisco Certified Specialist-Enterprise Advanced Infrastructure Implementation, and Cisco Certified Specialist-Enterprise Core certifications from Cisco in June 2019. Additionally, they attained the Juniper Networks Certified Specialist, Service Provider Routing & Switching (JNCIS-SP) certification from Juniper Networks in September 2019.

In 2018, Nickolas earned the Juniper Networks Certified Associate-Junos (JNCIA-Junos) certification from Juniper Networks. In 2020, they obtained the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft, as well as the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Nickolas also attained the Nokia IP Networks and Services Fundamentals Exam certification from Nokia in December 2020 and the NetOps (DevOps for Network Engineers): Automating Networks certification from LinkedIn in November 2022.

Lastly, Nickolas obtained the IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from AXELOS Global Best Practice in February 2014 and the Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification from Cisco in June 2023.
