Brian Brümmer

Brian Brümmer is an epidemiologist currently completing the South African Field Epidemiology training programme while pursuing an MSc in Field Epidemiology at the University of the Witwatersrand. They earned a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Cape Town in 2019. Brian has overseen Covid-19 mortality reporting at regional and district levels in the Free State and contributed to a rapid mortality surveillance programme, presenting findings at national conferences. Additionally, they serve as the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Country Coordinator for South Africa with the CDC Foundation, where they focus on improving death reporting systems and non-communicable disease surveillance in the region. In their free time, Brian enjoys drawing large charcoal portraits and competing in ultra-endurance cycling events.
