Michael Tynan is an experienced public health professional currently serving as the Senior Advisor for State & Local Tobacco Control Initiatives at the CDC Foundation. Previously, they held various roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2008 to 2025, including Policy Team Lead, where they guided public health policy analysis and cross-agency initiatives. Michael also served as Policy Director for the Oregon Health Authority from 2013 to 2016, leading legislative activities and public health modernization efforts. In addition, they have a background in legislative analysis and reporting, having worked with the United States Senate and as a freelance reporter.
