Allison Arwady

Director

Allison Arwady is the Director of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the CDC, a position held since 2024, where they lead efforts to prevent overdose, violence, and other injuries. They previously served as Commissioner and Chief Medical Officer for the Chicago Department of Public Health from 2015 to 2020. In addition to their role at the CDC, they have held positions as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer and Chief Resident Physician at Yale School of Medicine, and have contributed to research at Columbia University Medical Center and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Allison earned their Doctor of Medicine from Yale University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University.
