Benjamin Haynes has extensive experience in communications and public affairs, currently serving as the Acting Deputy Director of Communications at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since April 2022. In this role, Benjamin focuses on external communications, stakeholder relationships, and innovative communication strategies while leading a high-performing communications team. Prior positions at the CDC include Director of Media Relations, managing media relations strategy and integrating communication functions within the Division of Media Relations, and Branch Chief for the News Media Branch, where Benjamin directed efforts to educate the public about CDC programs. Previously, Benjamin held roles at the CDC as Spokesperson and Deputy Director of the Division of Community Relations, and served as Senior Public Affairs Specialist on the Risk Communication Team. Earlier experience includes a role as Writer-Editor at the US Environmental Protection Agency and various public affairs positions with the United States Marine Corps.
