Dr. Benjamin Ryan Phelps is the Program Director for the Central America Region at the CDC, focusing on global HIV and TB initiatives. With extensive experience at the U.S. Department of State and USAID, Dr. Phelps has led key PEPFAR programs in Zambia, Haiti, and Zimbabwe. They also practice community-based pediatrics and engage in child advocacy, serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The George Washington University. Dr. Phelps holds an MD from Duke University and an MPH from Johns Hopkins, and they have been involved in pediatric HIV care and training throughout their career.
