Brian Raphael, PhD, PHLD(ABB), D(ABMM), is currently the Branch Chief at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They previously served as a Research Microbiologist and led teams focused on various public health concerns, including STIs and parasitic diseases. Brian earned a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona and has experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Washington State University and a Part-time Instructor of Biology at Georgia Gwinnett College. Their work has contributed significantly to the development of diagnostic testing and outbreak response strategies in microbiology.
