Brian Yoo

Microbiologist

Brian Yoo is a microbiologist with extensive experience in both research and editorial roles within the field of microbiology. At the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since April 2015, Brian oversees a bacterial repository, focusing on resistant pathogens to aid in the development of new antimicrobial drugs and diagnostic tools. Prior to this role, Brian served as a contractor for Chenega Corp., conducting microbiologic assays and maintaining laboratory records. Other notable positions include editorial board member for the International Journal of Food Microbiology, and research molecular microbiologist at USDA ARS ERRC, where Brian assessed risks of Salmonella in food products and evaluated intervention strategies for controlling pathogens. Brian's academic background includes a PhD in Food Safety Microbiology from The University of Georgia and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology from Seoul National University.
