Carma Ayala is a Senior Research Epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where work has been conducted since 2008. Previously, Carma served as a member of the American Telemedicine Association from 2015 to 2016 and co-edited The Scientist Officer Newsletter for the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps from 2010 to 2013. Prior to the current role, Carma held the position of Associate Director of Science at CDC/NCCDPHP/DHDSP from 2006 to 2008 and Assistant Director of Research at the Texas Institute of Reproductive Medicine & Endocrinology from 1987 to 1999. Carma holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Health/Epidemiology, a Master of Public Health in International Family Health, and a Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing, all from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
