David Utterback retired from CDC/NIOSH on February 28, 2014, where they began their career as an Industrial Hygienist in 1992. They served as Section Chief and Branch Chief for the Health and Energy-Related Research Branch, focusing on epidemiologic studies of Nuclear Weapons Complex workers. Their final role was as Services Sector Coordinator and Co-Chair of the NORA Services Sector Council, holding the title of Senior Health Scientist. Prior to joining NIOSH, David was a tenured full professor of Health Sciences at California State University - Fresno and an assistant professor in the School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. David earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Truman State University and a PhD in Public Health Environmental Sciences from The University of North Carolina.
