John Barnes

John Barnes is a seasoned microbiologist with extensive experience in managing high-throughput sequencing pipelines within the Influenza Division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With a career at the CDC starting in October 2008, John Barnes has held multiple roles including Deputy Director, Chief Science Officer, and Research Microbiologist. Prior to this, John Barnes worked at Battelle and the Atlanta Research and Education Foundation, focusing on molecular surveillance and establishing sequencing pipelines. John's academic background includes a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The University of Georgia and a BS in the same field from Centre College.
