Epidemiologist, Coronavirus And Other Respiratory Viruses Division

Kevin C. Ma is an accomplished epidemiologist currently serving at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division since July 2022. Ma leads investigations of priority respiratory pathogens, utilizes advanced statistical modeling, and provides expert guidance on data analysis methodologies. Notably, Ma leverages generative AI to enhance data analysis processes and has directed critical public health investigations that influenced decisions regarding COVID-19 vaccine strain selection. Previously, Ma was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where extensive work was done on COVID-19 transmission dynamics and multidrug-resistant bacteria. During an earlier fellowship, Ma contributed to genomic surveillance of antimalarial resistance in collaboration with Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal.
