Michael Lo is an experienced microbiologist with a focus on viral pathogens and therapeutics. Currently employed at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since January 2015, Michael specializes in the screening and development of antiviral therapeutics for Biosafety Level-4 viruses and provided laboratory support during the West African Ebola outbreak. Prior to this role, Michael worked at McNeal Professional Services, Inc., where research centered on Nipah virus reverse genetics and cellular immune responses. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Society for Microbiology, focusing on Nipah virus molecular epidemiology and zoonotic surveillance, and a training fellowship at the Wadsworth Center, concentrating on West Nile virus replication. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis from Emory University and a B.S. in Microbiology from UC San Diego.
