Dr. Stephen L. Cochi is currently the Senior Advisor to the Director of the Global Immunization Division at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a position they have held since 2006. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from MIT, a Doctor of Medicine from Duke University, and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University. Dr. Cochi completed residency training in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and in preventive medicine at CDC, along with the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service training program. They previously worked as a pediatrician in the Indian Health Service and held various leadership roles at CDC, including Director of the Global Immunization Division and Deputy Director of the National Immunization Program. Throughout their career, Dr. Cochi has authored or co-authored over 140 scientific journal articles and remains active in professional organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics.
