Steven Sumner

Steven Sumner, MD, MSc, is a Senior Advisor at the CDC's Division of Violence Prevention, where they lead initiatives leveraging data science and machine learning to improve public health outcomes related to violence and injury prevention. Previously, Steven served as a Medical Epidemiologist and Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the CDC, conducting extensive research and publishing in top-tier journals. Their background includes a residency in Internal Medicine and Global Health at Duke University Health System, as well as experience as a Fogarty Global Health Fellow at the NIH. Steven earned their Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Master of Science in Global Health from Duke University.
