Tom Savel, MD, serves as the Lead of the Technology Research & Development Team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since July 2005, focusing on the prototyping, testing, and evaluation of innovative technologies to enhance public health practice. With extensive experience including roles as Associate Director for Science and Branch Chief at CDC, along with direct clinical practice in addiction medicine at Darji Clinic, Tom has contributed significantly to public health informatics and technology. Additional experience includes positions in academia as an adjunct professor at Emory University and involvement with technology publications. Tom’s educational background includes an MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University.
