Zack Mudge

Aphl-cdc Public Health Laboratory Fellow (bioinformatics)

Zack Mudge is currently serving as an APHL-CDC Public Health Laboratory Fellow in Bioinformatics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since December 2023, where contributions include co-developing and validating a new software version. Prior experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology involved adapting a flux balance analysis pipeline and analyzing metabolic pathways in breast cancer. A Bioinformatics Intern at Takeda, Zack developed and improved bioinformatics pipelines for viral contamination detection and amplicon sequencing. Earlier roles included software development at InductiveHealth Informatics for COVID-19 symptom monitoring, research at Georgia Institute of Technology focusing on ribonucleotide incorporation patterns in DNA, and various development positions enhancing web applications. Zack holds a Master of Science in Bioinformatics and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, both from Georgia Institute of Technology.
