Candan Desem

Candan Desem, PhD, is a lecturer at the University of Melbourne in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, where they coordinate and teach Environmental Impact Assessment and supervise research students. Previously, Candan held various roles as a Senior Environmental Scientist at Edge Group and Helia EHS, and worked as an Environmental Scientist at EESI Group and Golder Associates. They have also contributed to academia as an Education Officer and President for the Earth Science Student Society at the University of Melbourne, alongside their early career experience as a Research Assistant and Student Geologist. Candan earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology/Hydrogeochemistry, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Isotope Geochemistry, all from the University of Melbourne.
