Ru-Fen Liu has an extensive work experience that spans over a decade. Ru-Fen began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at NCKU from November 2005 to October 2008, where they conducted research on induced magnetism in nano-materials using first-principles calculations.
Following that, from October 2008 to November 2010, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Laboratoire de Cristallographie, Rés- onance Magnétique et Modélisations, Nancy I and CNRS, France. Here, they focused on the dispersion (van der Waals) interaction using quantum chemistry methods.
From December 2010 to June 2015, Ru-Fen Liu served as a Research Assistant at UC Santa Barbara, Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Their work involved developing stable and active sulfide catalysts for the Hydrogen bromine fuel cell and conducting DFT-MD studies on water-sulfide interfaces.
Ru-Fen then became a Consultant at the Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation, School of Chemical Engineering from June 2014 to June 2015, where they provided expert advice and consultancy services.
Ru-Fen Liu joined CDTi Advanced Materials, Inc. in June 2015 as a Material Characterization Specialist until March 2016. Ru-Fen later transitioned into the role of a Research Scientist from April 2016 to August 2019, and then as a Project Manager from January 2017 to August 2019. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Technology at CDTi Advanced Materials, Inc. since September 2019, where they oversee the technological development and advancements of the company.
Ru-Fen Liu completed their education at National Cheng Kung University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from 2000 to 2005. Furthermore, they attended the Suncat summer school, although the specific dates, degree name, and field of study are not provided. In addition to their education, Ru-Fen Liu also obtained a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification - Level I from the Aveta Business Institute in November 2021.
