Tom Walker

Tom Walker is the Head of Science at Cecil, where they focus on making nature data accessible to all. A seasoned environmental scientist and strategist, they have previously held roles at institutions such as ETH Zürich and the University of Vienna, where they advanced understanding of ecosystem health and climate feedback mechanisms. With a robust academic background, including a PhD in Environmental Biology from The University of Manchester, Tom has combined research with advocacy as a co-initiator of the Earth Metabolome Initiative. They also contribute to early-stage nature tech start-ups as a science advisor to The Climate Collective. When not working, Tom enjoys mountain biking, reading, and thinking about bees.
