Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith is an experienced leader currently serving as the Manager of Animal Care and Control for the City of Cedar Rapids and the Chair of the Animal Welfare Investigations Project Advisory Board. With a background in veterinary medicine, they worked as a Veterinary Technician at Pollock Pines Veterinary Hospital and later as an Animal Protection Officer in both Boulder and Denver. Rachel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Aurora University, and they demonstrate strong skills in conflict management, problem-solving, and community outreach. As a host and producer of the AWIP Podcast, they continue to advocate for animal welfare.
