Sumayah Rahman

Sumayah Rahman is a seasoned data scientist and advisor with a comprehensive background in machine learning, data infrastructure, and healthcare technology. Currently serving as an Advisor for Legacy since 2024, Sumayah also leads ML and Data Infrastructure at Cedar, where the focus is on transforming data for actionable insights. Previous roles include staff data scientist at Point72 Ventures, where application of AI/ML technology to portfolio companies was central, and a data scientist at Apple, contributing to significant health metrics for Apple Watch and iPhone. Sumayah has held multiple advisory and educational positions at UC Berkeley, emphasizing mentorship and research in data science. Academic credentials include a PhD from UC Berkeley, with a focus on machine learning applications in genomics, complemented by formal education in engineering leadership and a bachelor’s degree in science from Northeastern University.
