Derek Thanstrom

Derek Thanstrom is an experienced IT professional with a strong focus on data center operations and systems management. Currently serving as the EIS Systems Manager at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since September 2009, Derek leads a team of seventeen engineers in 2nd level systems operations and data center infrastructure. Notable accomplishments include architecting and managing a data center redesign for improved efficiencies and scalability, as well as capacity planning for critical infrastructure elements. Previous roles include EIS Technologist Team Lead, where Derek specialized in data center architecture, and EIS Sr. Systems Engineer, with a focus on disaster recovery solutions. Derek's earlier experience includes positions as IT Operations Manager at Line 6, Inc. and IT Technical Manager at FIS, further enhancing expertise in IT operations and team leadership. Derek holds a degree from UCLA, completed in 2013.
