Matthew Whiteman is an accomplished Assistant Controller with over 15 years of progressive accounting experience, specializing in financial reporting, technical accounting, and SOX compliance. Currently serving as the Assistant Controller at Michaels Stores and as the Director of External Reporting at Celanese, Whiteman's expertise spans audits across industries such as technology, automotive, and life sciences. Previously, Whiteman held positions at leading firms including BDO UK LLP, KPMG UK, and Deloitte, where they managed complex audits and developed team members' professional skills. Whiteman is a qualified CPA, CA(SA), and CGMA, with a strong foundation in US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting. They earned a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
