Sewoon Han has extensive experience in the field of engineering and research. They started their career as a Research Professor at Korea University in 2014, followed by a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2015, they joined UC Berkeley as a Postdoctoral Scholar.
In 2018, Sewoon Han became a Founding Member and Vice President of Engineering at Kryptos Biotechnologies, Inc. They played a crucial role in developing and commercializing ultrafast PCR technology for molecular diagnostic applications. They also managed research and development activities, lab operations, and intellectual property portfolio.
In 2019, Sewoon Han joined CellFE - Cell Fluidics Engineering as the Director of Engineering and later became the Head of Engineering. They were responsible for the development and commercialization of microfluidic gene transfection instruments and consumables. They oversaw all research and development and operation activities of the company, managed relationships with pharmaceutical companies and academic partners, and created and managed the intellectual property portfolio.
Throughout their career, Sewoon Han has demonstrated leadership skills, scientific expertise, and a strong ability to contribute to the strategic and operational aspects of both startup and academic environments.
Sewoon Han pursued their education in Mechanical Engineering at Korea University. Sewoon obtained a Master's degree from the same institution, completing their studies from 2005 to 2008. Han then continued their academic journey and successfully achieved their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from Korea University, completing this degree program from 2011 to 2014.
