Matthew Murphy

Matthew Murphy is a seasoned library and information science professional with extensive experience in metadata creation and management. Currently serving as a Content Engineer at Cengage Group since May 2023, Matthew collaborates with product stakeholders to implement metadata for digital educational resources. As a Metadata Consultant for the Comedias Sueltas USA Project since January 2020, Matthew manages a national survey of Spanish-language rare books. Previous roles include Library Services Manager at Milwaukee Public Library, where Matthew oversaw cataloging and supervised staff, and Rare Book Cataloger at The New York Public Library, conducting provenance research. Matthew also held positions at John Jay College and the New-York Historical Society, focusing on cataloging and metadata. Matthew holds an MSLIS from Long Island University and a Certificate in Collections Cataloging from Rare Book School.
