Rob Knochenhauer

Director of Regulatory Affairs at Censys Technologies

Rob Knochenhauer has over 25 years of experience in the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) industry. Rob began their career in 1995 as an Aircraft Mechanic for Aero Care, Inc. In 1997, they moved to Barbour Stockwell Inc. as a Systems Engineer. In 2002, they joined QinetiQ North America as a Project Manager. In 2014, they became a Senior Robotics Systems Engineer at Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation. In 2015, they were a UAS Regulatory & Operations Advisor and Director of Flight Operations & Regulatory Affairs at GreenSight. In 2019, they were a Project Manager, Complex UAS Operations at MassDOT and Principal at Protocol UAS. In 2020, they became an Unmanned Systems Engineering Advisor at NextDroid. Finally, in 2022, they were appointed Director of Regulatory Affairs at Censys Technologies Corporation.

Rob Knochenhauer obtained their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2012. Rob also holds a B.S. in Electromechanical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology, which they obtained in 2000. In 1994, they obtained an Aviation Maintenance Technology certification from East Coast Aero Tech. In addition, they hold certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration for Remote Pilot - Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (obtained in 2016) and Mechanic - Airframe & Powerplant (obtained in 1994). Rob also holds a Blasting Certificate of Competency, R&D from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, which they obtained in 2006.
