The Centre for Mountain Studies (CMS) was established as a research centre at UHI Perth in August 2000, with the objective of creating a centre of excellence for work in mountain areas within the University of the Highlands and Islands.

We focus on mountain environments and the people who depend on them, both in Scotland and internationally, by undertaking high quality research, facilitating knowledge exchange and fostering a stimulating and supportive environment for learning and development. 

We run an MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development and masters level CPD modules in Sustainable Deer Management; Water Resources in a Changing Climate and Sustainable Land Use
