Peter Mares

Peter Mares is an independent writer and researcher who serves as a contributing editor for Inside Story magazine, a fellow at the Centre for Policy Development, and an adjunct senior research fellow at Monash University’s School of Media, Film and Journalism. They are part of the sessional moderating team at The Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership, where they have contributed for over a decade. Peter's extensive background includes 25 years as a journalist and broadcaster with the ABC, where they reported as a foreign correspondent from Hanoi and presented national radio programs. They have published three books addressing critical social issues, including Australia’s housing crisis and the dynamics of temporary migration.
