Jun Pei

Jun Pei is the Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Cepton Technologies, Inc. Pei has over 20 years of experience in the 3D sensing industry. Pei was the Founder and CEO of AEP Technology, Inc., an optical instrumentation company providing high-resolution 3D surface profiles used in advanced research institutions across the world. Prior to AEP Technology, Pei was the General Manager of Lidar and Acoustic Engineering at Velodyne Lidar, Inc., where they led the engineering team that launched the original rotating HDL-64 lidar. The HDL-64 lidar is still used in some autonomous vehicles today. Before Velodyne, Pei spent 10 years at KLA where they served in various roles focusing on engineering optical inspection tools for semiconductor chip fabrication facilities to improve yield on leading-edge semiconductor processes. Pei received their BS in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University and their MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Jun Pei has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Stanford University, a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Physics and Computer Science from Brandeis University, and studied physics prior to transferring to Brandeis University at Peking University.
