Ad Aerts has extensive experience in the field of particle physics and software technology. Since 2003, Ad Aerts has been involved with CERN as a user of the CMS Experiment. Prior to joining CERN, Ad Aerts served as Program Manager for the Software Technology Programme at Eindhoven University of Technology from 1985 until retirement in June 2018, while remaining an advisor for the program. Ad Aerts also held academic positions as Assistant Professor at CERN and Senior Fellow at Brookhaven National Laboratory, as well as Assistant Physicist at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. Ad Aerts completed a Ph.D. in Physics at Radboud University between 1970 and 1979 and obtained a Gymnasium Beta diploma from Onze Lieve Vrouwe Lyceum in Breda.
