Carlo Scarcia is a vacuum and materials engineer at CERN, currently developing UHV compatible ferritic steels for next-generation gravitational wave detectors. Carlo has a solid educational background, having earned a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Eng. in Materials Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, along with ongoing doctoral studies at RWTH Aachen University. Previous experiences include roles as a Student Mentor and an R&D External Consultant, as well as practical training in CNC programming and quality control. Carlo's curiosity and passion for science and technology have driven continuous improvement and a commitment to tackling new challenges across Europe.
