Carmelo Scarcella

Carmelo Scarcella is a Staff Member at CERN since September 2016, focusing on the development of radiation-hard optical links based on Silicon Photonics for High-Energy Physics applications. Previous roles include Cooperation Associate, where Carmelo conducted feasibility studies on 100 Gb/s rad-hard transceivers and Senior Fellow in the Electronic Systems for Experiments Group, leading the design of long-reach radiation-tolerant optical links for the Large Hadron Collider and Super Proton Synchrotron. Prior experience as a Research Engineer at Tyndall National Institute involved optical packaging and integration, particularly in the EU project FP7 Plat4m. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology, as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Electronics Engineering, all from Politecnico di Milano.
