Didier Steyaert serves as the Material Standardisation Manager and Punch Out Contract Manager at CERN since October 2020, overseeing the standardisation of equipment and material in the electromechanical infrastructure. Responsibilities include researching and updating standardised items, managing technical groups, and coordinating procurement processes alongside the Procurement Service. Prior to this role, Didier held positions as a Technical Engineer and Senior Designer at CERN from May 2003 to September 2019, working on mechanical design for particle accelerators and leading installation studies for detectors. Additional experience includes mechanical design at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique, focusing on integration studies for the ATLAS liquid Argon calorimeter, and a mechanical designer role at Groupe Renault, managing vehicle architecture and process simulations. Didier holds a mechanical engineering degree from IUP Cachan and has further qualifications in composite structural design.
