Frank Simon is an accomplished physicist currently serving as the Chair of the LHC Experiments Committee at CERN since May 2019 and as a Full Professor and Director at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology since October 2022. Simon held the position of Research Group Leader at the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik from October 2007 to October 2022 and was the Spokesperson for the CALICE Collaboration, which focuses on the development of granular calorimeters for particle physics, from April 2015 to June 2019. Earlier experience includes a role as Junior Research Group Leader at the Cluster of Excellence "Origin and Structure of the Universe" and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at MIT. Educational qualifications include a Diploma in Physics and a PhD in Physics from Technische Universität München, and a Vordiplom in Physics from Technische Universität Darmstadt.
