John Shade

John Shade is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in network management and operations, particularly at CERN, where they served as External Network Manager from 2010 to 2025. They led various sections responsible for network deployment, operations, and communications systems, contributing significantly to initiatives such as the CERN Internet Exchange Point. Prior to their tenure at CERN, John held consulting roles at HP and multiple positions at DEC Digital Equipment Corporation. They earned an International Baccalaureate from the International School of Geneva and a BSc (Hons) from The University of Edinburgh. Currently, John is on holiday prior to retirement at the end of 2025.
