Mariel Pettee

Physicist

Mariel Pettee is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Berkeley Lab, specializing in the development of machine learning techniques for fundamental physics applications, supported by the Chamberlain Postdoctoral Research Fellowship since September 2021. Concurrently, Mariel serves as a Physicist at CERN, involved in research for the ATLAS Experiment, focusing on Higgs boson production and neural network-based tau identification from August 2016. Prior experience includes a Researcher role at Fermilab, where software-based trigger studies were conducted for the Mu2e Experiment, and various positions at Harvard University and CERN, including work as a course assistant and research assistant. Mariel holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University, an MASt from the University of Cambridge, and an A.B. in Physics and Mathematics from Harvard University.
