Steinar Stapnes is a highly experienced physicist currently serving as the Linear Collider Study Leader at CERN since July 2008, overseeing the CLIC project. Additionally, Stapnes holds the position of Strategy Secretary for the CERN Council. As a Professor at the University of Oslo since April 1995, Stapnes played a leading role in the construction of the ATLAS experiment from 1999 to 2008, focusing on the Inner Detector and later serving as Deputy Spokesperson. Stapnes also served as President of The Norwegian Physical Society from January 1999 to December 2003 and held positions at CERN and The Norwegian Research Council from July 1985 to March 1995, including a CERN fellowship. Stapnes earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Experimental Particle Physics from the University of Oslo between 1980 and 1990.
