Steve DeRose

CTE Curriculum Consultant at CEV Multimedia

Steve DeRose grew up on a family farm just north of Hanford, California in the San Joaquin Valley. After graduating from Cal Poly Saint Luis Obispo with a bachelor's degree in agricultural business, DeRose continued his education and earned a master’s in agricultural science. DeRose was an agricultural teacher and FFA Advisor for 38 years before retiring and joining the iCEV team in 2015.

DeRose says his favorite thing about teaching was, "watching students gain self-confidence and seeing their eyes light up when overcoming a challenge, reaching a goal and succeeding." He enjoyed working with colleagues and students who brought excitement and fun to the classroom each day.

DeRose was honored to receive special recognition for his accomplishments and achievements during his time as an educator. His accomplishments included, Teacher of the Year, California Agriculture Teacher of Excellence, Agriculture Service Award, State and National Championships as a CDE coach and National FFA Honorary American Farmer. DeRose has also been inducted into the California Agriculture Teachers Hall of Fame.

DeRose was an avid iCEV user while teaching. As a Curriculum Consultant, he enjoys working with CTE educators because "common treads are shared by all, and he believe in applied learning and the importance of student success." DeRose is glad to still be a part of the industry in which his life was built around while staying in-tune with what is happening in education and in contact with CTE staff from around the state.
