Daniel Beneš has been at the helm of the largest Czech energy company since 2011, when he became chairman of the board and CEO of CEZ Group. He is responsible for the overall management of the group's activities, strategic development, protection of the interests of the CEZ Group and its representation in the Czech Republic and at the level of the European Union.
The ČEZ Group under his leadership shows consistently good results, and in times of significant changes in the energy market, it delivers a stable dividend to its shareholders, the largest of which is the Czech state. The management of the group relies on increasing efficiency, monitoring current trends and transforming ČEZ towards carbon neutrality in accordance with the State Energy Concept of the Czech Republic, which takes into account smart energy solutions and the transition to an emission-free economy, including the development of nuclear energy.
As a member of the National Economic Council of the Government of the Czech Republic, Daniel Beneš actively participates in the preparation of the Economic Strategy and the National Recovery Plan of the Czech Republic. He is a member of the board of the Association of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic and, since 2019, also its 1st vice-president. He is a member of the Commission for Climate Issues of the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation and the Coal Commission, an advisory body of the Government of the Czech Republic.
He joined ČEZ in 2004 as Director of the Purchasing Department of ČEZ, as. From 2006, he held the position of Director of the Administration Division. Since May 2006, he has been the deputy chairman of the board of directors.
He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Mining University - Technical University of Ostrava and the Brno Business School of Nottingham Trent University.
