Mark Nelson

Mark Nelson has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Mark started their career in 1982 as a Senior Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick, where they managed a client base consisting of financial institutions, governmental organizations, insurance companies, and manufacturing entities. During their time at KPMG, they were also involved in the KPMG Quality Institute, where they developed and instructed national training programs for both KPMG personnel and clients.

In 1992, Mark joined American National Corporation as Vice President of Audit and Review. Mark managed the internal audit department and implemented a risk-based approach to maximize department effectiveness. Mark also coordinated regulatory examinations and external audit activities.

From 1994 to 1996, Mark served as Chief Financial Officer at Sunflower Carriers. Mark was responsible for all financial aspects of the business, including cash management and capital investment analysis. Mark also conducted special projects analysis and monthly financial reporting processes.

In 1996, Mark returned to the public accounting sector and worked as a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP/KPMG LLP, Nebraska practice. Mark managed a diverse client base, ranging from small family-owned manufacturing operations to a multinational professional service organization. Mark administered audit and consulting projects, including tax research, profit improvement consultation, and capital structure conversion.

In 2003, Mark joined TierOne Corporation as a Financial Analyst. Mark was responsible for regulatory reporting activities, including forms filed with the Securities Exchange Commission. Mark also oversaw external audit activities and played a significant role in the documentation for the company's initial public offering.

Following their time at TierOne, Mark returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked as a Senior Manager. Mark managed a client base consisting of subsidiary operations of large publicly traded entities and privately held businesses in the manufacturing, banking, and insurance industries. Mark administered audit and consulting projects, including Sarbanes Oxley projects, interest rate and commodity hedging projects, and statutory and regulatory audit projects.

Mark then became the Owner and Chief Financial Officer of SPI Janitorial in 2005. Mark built the nationwide janitorial service provider into a thriving business with annual revenues exceeding $1.2 million. Mark was responsible for all finance and accounting infrastructure, client and employee relationship management, regulatory filings, and daily administration of business applications.

From 2008 to 2009, Mark worked as a Senior Manager at Peterson Sullivan LLP. Mark managed a client base consisting of small publicly traded entities and privately held businesses in various industries. Mark administered audit and consulting projects, including Sarbanes Oxley projects.

Since 2009, Mark has been working at CFO Systems LLC as a Director. The company provides fractional finance and HR leadership on a contract basis to clients throughout the nation. Mark's role includes implementing targeted solutions for each client's specific needs.

In 2016, Mark took on the role of Board Member at MEDICI, an organization not further specified. Mark has not provided any end dates for their roles at MEDICI or CFO Systems LLC.

Mark Nelson attended Bertrand High School from 1974 to 1978. After completing high school, they enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1978 to 1982. During their time at the university, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a focus on Accounting.
