Mia Borrelli is a skilled Forensic Chemist II currently employed at The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education since January 2023, with previously held positions at NMS Labs from September 2018 to January 2023, where roles included Forensic Chemist II, Forensic Chemist I, and Analyst I. Mia started the professional journey at Arnold's Family Fun Center as a Party Hostess/Front Desk from 2011 to August 2018 and gained experience as a Crime Scene Unit Intern at the Pittsburgh Police, managing forensic evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and utilizing various evidence developing techniques. Mia's internships at NMS Labs included roles as an Esoteric Lab Intern and LCMS Lab Intern, with responsibilities in handling samples and performing complex extractions. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Duquesne University and earlier schooling at Villanova University and Pope John Paul II High School.

The CFSRE conducts research, development, and new technology assessment, and delivers educational and training services for the forensic science community and beyond. Our educational programs include short-term placement for visiting scholars and researchers; partnerships to deliver degree programs at area universities; and continuing professional development for forensic scientists, law enforcement, and legal professionals.
