Robert Barron

Robert Barron is a retired Research Fellow with over 30 years experience at Procter & Gamble as an industrial analytical chemist and lab automation specialist. He worked most of his career in the OTC Healthcare Division, leading the development and validation of scores of methods across a wide range of techniques, including atomic spectroscopy, ion chromatography, HPLC, GC, infrared thermography, wet chemistry and many others. Bob is an expert in analytical method validation, the author of a comprehensive SOP on this topic and a trainer in method development and validation. Bob is not only an analytical generalist, but is also an experienced problem solver who has either directly solved or assisted in the solution of numerous raw material and process issues across a range of products including dentifrice, cough/cold remedies, bulk laxatives, denture care products, stomach remedies and others. Bob also led an innovative lab automation group that used a “Connect and Develop” approach to bring new-to-the-world automation solutions to laboratories across all product categories within Procter & Gamble.

Bob received his BA in Chemistry from Colgate University and his Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University under the direction of Fisher Award Winner Dr. James S. Fritz. At Iowa State, Bob participated in the early development of Single Column Ion Chromatography with a special focus on understanding and producing selective stationary phases.
