Matthew Moore has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Starting from their role as a Web Developer/Intern at Jera Technology in 2001, they then worked as an Undergraduate Researcher and Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004. Matthew progressed to become a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, where they worked on compiler optimizations and had expertise in preserving SSA through structural transformations.
In 2012, Matthew joined Google as a Software Engineer and Tech Lead for the Google Container Registry. Matthew played a crucial role in shaping its architecture and establishing it as the most widely used container registry. Matthew then took on the role of Software Engineer / Uber-TL, steering container development and pioneering projects such as Container Registry and Container Builder.
From 2018 to 2019, Matthew worked at Google as a Software Engineer / Knative Technical Oversight, leading the development of Knative's serving area and growing the community around it. Matthew played a significant role in making Knative the go-to solution for running "serverless" containers on Kubernetes.
In 2019, Matthew moved to VMware as a Software Engineer, focusing on the Knative OSS community and incorporating Knative into VMware's product portfolio. Matthew led the development of the Serving area and drove the overall controller architecture of Knative, while also collaborating on related projects like Tekton and buildpacks.
Most recently, in 2021, Matthew founded Chainguard, Inc, where they hold the position of Founder and CTO.
Matthew Moore attended Carnegie Mellon University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a BS degree in Computer Science, Discrete Math and Logic. During their time at the university, they accomplished University Honors.
